Mass-restore backups for forensics

Post by vektorMat420 »

I want to restore all available backups automatically. The GUI version of the extract utility does only allow to restore one machine at a time. The CLI version can restore all files from at least a single backup, but it cannot handle incremental backups. Additionally, it requires the "Provisioned Size" being available as free space but restores only the used size (luckily, but stops if less space than sum of provisioned sizes is free on destination
So how can I do a mass-restore then?

Furthermore I noticed that for one VM the used size is larger than the provisioned size - how is that even possible?!

This should be possible via PS.

But could you elaborate on your goal a bit? Why you need to restore all VMs from all backups, meaning the same VMs will be restored multiple times? Thanks!
