Feature Request: Trigger health check/backup defrag manually

Post by rehm_schneider »

It would be nice to be able to trigger a health check or backup defragmentation manually via the gui (or even better via the command line, for unattended and remote triggering). The background in our case is that the backups of our workstations are running on a schedule during the afternoon, and these schedules are designed to be finished before the user shuts down his computer in the evening. That works just fine, since these incremental backups are quick enough that they are pretty much guaranteed to be finished in time.

But when I configure periodic health checks/defragmentations, the backup duration on that certain restore point is increased by several hours, resulting in aborted backups when the user shuts down his PC. The easiest solution would be the possibility to trigger a standalone health check/defragmentation manually at a point in time where the PC is expected to be running long enough for the check/defrag to finish in time. And it would also untangle a backup's creation and its verification.

I also have this problem. Another solution would be to allow you to schedule the check/defrags independent of the backup process in addition to what was recommended above.
