List files saved

Post by GianlucaCroci »

Hello,
we've few File Servers (Virtual Machines) with a lot documents stored.
Would it be possible, for example via Powershell, to extract a list of all the files (documents) backuped in a Job with multiple Servers, or search for a file name backuped in a Job, always with multiple Servers?
This because I don't know on which File Server the document is saved.
In practice I'd like to be able to query the Veeam in a heavier way than through the web interface, if it's possible. :D

Thank's a lot for the help.
Kind regards

Hey Gianluca,

You can use VM Guest File System Indexing for searching files and folders inside the backups. Thanks!

Do you have Enterprise Manager installed? If not, consider doing so, as it provides the exact functionality you're after.

Good Morning,

but with the option "VM Guest File System Indexing" I've to know the server. right?

We've the "Enterprise Manager". For what I know, here too I need to know the Server name.
But if I don't know it, but I only know the name of the Job that contains 15 Servers, what can I do?

Thank's

You do not need to specify a server name, you can search in all registered backups that were indexed.

ok.
I've now connected to the Enterprise Manager, I went to the "FILES" tab, and in the "SEARCH" section I entered the name of a file, without specifying anything else. I did research but found nothing. I've done other tests, indicating other parameters, more or less restrictive, but nothing. Always "No results found".
The Files Server have the "Indexing part" active.
What's wrong?

That's unexpected.
Can you click on "Pick from List..." on the Files Tab and check if there are machines in the list with the indexing enabled? Thanks!

That's correct, you can choose a particular machine to search only in it or you can leave it without selection to search inside all backups with indexing enabled.
I didn't choose any machine and it states in the Machine Name: All machines, you can see it on the screenshot here.

Thanks!

unfortunately doesn't work. but I've seen that if I select a File Server and I do a search, it return me "No results found".
I've used 3 names and "*.pdf" but Always error.
On the job I've the Indexing option.

Good Morning Dmitry,
first I'll upgrade to U4a, but this week we've the end-of-month backup, so I'll wait next week.
I'll try again and in case I'll open a case.

Thank's a lot, and kind regards
