Removing SOBR

Post by Iain_Green »

Hi,

Need some advice. I had to move some files between two dedicated REPO's, so I chucked them into a SOBR put one into maintenance mode and evacuated the backups to the other.
I have then removed the now empty repo.

I wish to remove the SOBR and go back to a single repo for the backup.. however I can't remove the SOBR with an active backup associated to it.
The guide tells me to point it at another repo.. which would require moving the files again!

Help please :D
Many thanks

Hi Iain, I believe you can remove it without copying data - just add some "fake" repository as an extent instead of the one you want to switch to a regular one and then re-point your job to the regular repository (it already has the files). After that SOBR can be removed.

I mean creating another (empty, temporary) repository and add it as an extent to SOBR, while removing the first extent (actually holding the files) from there. After that repoint the job and remove SOBR.
