Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
Hello,
is there any way to reactivate the search for VMs in the Enterprise Manager web front-end?
"My" users are missing this search possibility?
Best Regards,
Stefan

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
Hello Hannes,
as I said, I'm not missing the VM search as admin or operator. Just users are "privileged" since update 4a not to see the VM search anymore ...
They always could at least since Enterprise Manager 5 or 6.
Baba,
Stefan

Hello,
sorry, I still cannot see where in the question you defined the roles of your user and I still don't know which search you are missing.
This is what I can see with a "restore operator" user who has file and VM restore permissions. VM search ("select machine") is available.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
"Portal User" is a veeam pre-defined role in Enterprise Manger. And we are using it.
Since 4a users can only see "Dashboard","Reports", "Jobs" ...
I'm - as always mentioned - not talking about ops or admins.
If anybody knows an answer - thank you for Your helpful reply!
If the feature was abandoned - I request it for the next release!
Thank You!
Stefan

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
Hello,
thanks for clarifying that you use the "portal user" role (for me a "restore operator" is also "just a user"). I don't believe that any feature was removed intentionally with U4a.
This is the VM search I see with a "portal user" in U4a
This is the VM search I see with a "portal user" in U4 (without a)
Looks the same for me - but probably I still don't understand which vm search you are missing.
Maybe you can share what you are trying to achieve? There are probably some changes since version 5 or 6 which was many years ago before I worked with Veeam...
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
So, what I try to explain is that those "Portal Users" could always see the backup history for VMs. But since update 4a - there is no longer such a search by VM.real_tarantoga wrote: ↑Apr 17, 2019 1:12 pmSince 4a users can only see "Dashboard","Reports", "Jobs" ...
Only the three options I've quoted above.
I suppose, that the feature really was removed, because a "portal user" could always see any history of any machine. I don't care about that! I want to continue offering our customers the ability to look around the backup job histories.
If You can see the tab "Machines" and "Files" as "Portal User", then there is really a gap with what our users can see - since the update!
Why is it so?
Is your account accidently retrieving higher permissions by another group membership?
Or am I missing SQL table rights after updating? Why should it be?
Regards, Stefan
PS: Please stop putting graphics in the thread. That's not really helpful in my opinion. Thank You!

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
Hello Stefan,
if I understood you correct, then my screenshots show what you are missing. That means it can only be a configuration issue.
As you asked me not to put graphics: I can only recommend to check the account settings in roles whether the correct checkboxes for "allow restore of" are set.
If you need further help, please contact support.
Best regards,
Hannes

I must say I am really puzzled why you feel this way, as I personally find it extremely helpful. In this case, it saved me a few minutes opening the web console and clicking around it. And it is helpful in general because "better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times".real_tarantoga wrote: ↑Apr 17, 2019 1:54 pmPS: Please stop putting graphics in the thread. In addition, in this specific case this proves the VM search is not "gone" anywhere, as the topic name incorrectly states.
Only posting this because I don't want any of my team members be discouraged (after seeing your comment) with replying with such a convenient and comprehensive responses as Hannes.

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
Gostev, why do You do that? After ten years "in the forums" and administering veeam You should know it/me better than that.
The pictures demonstrate that my comments wasn't read attentivly.
The first pictures are quite okay, because my very first thread comment was not automatically clear enough.
It's showing no user but the admin web view, the following pictures prove, that operators can view the search option missing for users.
Again - I'm not asking for that.
Gostev, the pictures don't prove that the search by VM isn't gone for portal users - a predefined role by veeam.
And I just said, the thread became less readable.
Why (and how) should I have been changed the pre-defined user role? I did an update!
Perhaps I will contact the support. Otherwise You' ve just clarified that all things are good and I did it wrong ...
So You can close the thread, there wil be no answer.
Thank You!
Stefan

Re: Enterprise Manager - where is the VM search gone?
I solved it now by a workaround - creating an operator role with restore limitation to a senseless file extension.
Now "users" can review backup histories.
Happy Easter!
