Live migration to new server

Post by MAA »

Hello,

I have server with VeeamB&R and big local repository.
Now i need migrate all to new server on another site.
I cannot just stop jobs on old server (https://www.veeam.com/kb1889) and copy repository to new server, because it will take too much time (~1 week).

How to make a live migration, without interruption in the backup jobs?

Consider migrating the jobs gradually, switching them to the new repository one by one, while others are running.

You can export configuration from old server, import configuration to new server, so you don't have to create new jobs. Or just create new ones.

On old server stop backup job, then copy all backup chain files (full backups and increments), on new server edit the backup job and map copied files. (repeat this for all jobs one by one)

Correct, that is what I meant by gradual migration - perform switch for one job, then the next one, etc. Other jobs can continue running normally when you migrate backups for just one job.
