VeeamZIP view backup expiration date?

Post by cb1ocker » 1 person likes this post

When I take a VeeamZip backup of a server there is a drop down to select a 'Delete after' time, is there a way to view when this expiration date is after the backup is taken? So far I have been unable to find a way to view that.

Hi Jeremy, I'm afraid this information is available in Veeam configuration database only.

Looking for the same thing.
So there is no way for us to know when some backup is going to expire (and thus get automatically removed). That's... not so great.

Hi David, let's consider this as a feature request for future versions. Thanks!

Hello David,
Could you elaborate on your use case?
Do you use both backup jobs and VeeamZIP or only veeamZIP?
Thanks

I'm not David, but in my case I use both. I generally only use VeeamZIP when I need to keep a final backup for longer than the original backup job retention. An example of this would be a server that is in a backup job with a 30 day retention, but because of some special circumstance we want to keep 1 backup around for a year after decommissioning the server. This doesn't happen that often, so I only have a handful of these VeeamZIP jobs, but I have on idea when they expire, and it would be nice to easily view that information.

Thanks for the reply Jeremy,
We would consider adding the data to Veeam ONE reports.

Suppose, it would also make sense to add this information to powershell functionality. So, thank you for the proposal!
I have noted it as a feature request.

It's partially implemented in version 11: you will see retention for backups residing on standalone repository - it will be reflected in backup properties.

Support for backups residing on Scale-Out Backup Repositories will be added in future product versions.

Thanks!
