Agent backup fails with nothing to process

Post by controlfreak »

I had an agent job that was not working. The agent system was online under inventory and rescans were successful. The agent shows online.

When I run the backup job containing only the agent system (added to my primary protection group via hostname), the backup starts, moves to building host list, then finishes with a warning "Nothing to process."

Reinstall of the agent did not fix the issue.

I found that the agent had been added to the protection group by IP previously, and the agent IP was still listed under the disabled "manually added" protection group, in addition to the hostname being listed under my primary protection group. Once I removed the IP object for the agent from "manually added", the backup completed successfully.

If you have a host added to a protection group via hostname that won't backup but appears online, confirm that its IP address is not listed under manually added. Remove it if so.

Hope this helps someone else.
