normal user can't open Veeam
hi,
Windows Server 2016, Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5
Does it support normal user open Veeam? It already disable UAC, but still get following error if using normal user to open Veeam.
The requested operation requires elevation
Have any idea, because it need create operator account in Windows without local administrative right, but able to open Veeam for checking backup in Veeam
Regards
Thanks...KEN

Re: normal user can't open Veeam
Hello,
please see the user guide for the required permissions. You did not mention which kind of "operator", but for example a restore process will do a mount in the background... it's more than "just a UI"
Could Enterprise manager be an alternative?
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: normal user can't open Veeam
hi Hannes,
The Veeam serve in datacenter, it need let "Operator" to check the Veaam backup job status every day, but we can't grant the local administrative right to "Operator", then if user have no local administrative right, it would get error "The requested operation requires elevation" when open Veeam.
Does it have step by Veeam that can handle such case?
Regards
Thanks...KEN

Hi Ken,
the user guide is correct. If you cannot give that permissions, I suggest using enterprise manager for your use case (job status). Well, you could also use VeeamONE reports or email notifications to check the job status.

Hi Hannes,
Many thanks for your reply.
And one more thing that the operator need replace the tape in tape library and need inventory in Veeam, does the Enterprise Manager or VeeamONE can do?
Regards
Thanks...KEN

If I am not mistaken, Update 4 did add the dedicated Tape Operator role.

Re: normal user can't open Veeam
yes, we have that role. The problem is, that we require permissions already for start.
Maybe we can change that behavior for some roles.
