Data not removed from disk after Retention policy removing

Post by FranceLink »

Hi,

When the retention policy have to remove some vib, task seems to work great in B&R and logs, but if I check the disk, removing are not done.
I look into the logs but unable to find the reason.

However all seems to work in interface but not in reality. Disk is not affected.
If have no problem for vib creation. Only for deletion.

And Job doesn't make an error.

Thanks ! :)

Hello,
I suggest to check your setup with the restore point simulator. It will tell you the expected behavior.

If that does not match, I suggest to open a support case. But it is very unlikely that retention does not work.

Hannes

Hi,

I'm sorry but I went on URL you gave but... Don't understand what is the link with my problem?..

Retention works perfectly, backups too, restore excellent..
Veeam detect very well when a full backup has to be performed, I have logs that prove that old vbk and vibs are removed, but in fact they are not, nut for veeam, yes, cause I see the good restore point printed in UI list...
But I have to manually delete them from system file to make free space on disk.

I'm absolutly sure of that cause it make now 3 month (= 3 full backup) that problem appears causing out of space problem.

Hi,
if you click on "simulate", you can see how many restore points you should have.

Could you tell me what retention & full settings you have? And how many restore points do you actually have on disk?

Best regards,
Hannes

Ho.. No but I have correct number of restore points !
I use veeam from 2 3 years now, be sure I know how to use retention system :)

I think I'm not clear.
Here is UI logs from a job with 4 VM (a little job).
Removing is indicated as OK.
Retentions points print the good number after it!
But on system files, files are already here and I have to remove it manually !

I can assure points are not removed from system files.

All worked great from a long time and from 3 4 month, files are no more erased.
