Veeam Backup & Replication Community Edition - Instance Counting

Post by Lyriclumpclass »

Hello, I've just noticed that there is now a Community Edition and have some questions about instance counting.

We currenly have the Standard version of B&R 9.5 (out of support) with the following setup.

ESXI01 (2 Physical CPUs with 6 Cores per CPU)
-> VMA : Backed Up to Local Storage
-> VM1 : Backed Up to Local Storage & Replicated to ESXI02
-> VM2 : Backed Up to Local Storage & Replicated to ESXI02
-> VM3 : Backed Up to Local Storage & Replicated to ESXI02
-> VM4 : Backed Up to Local Storage & Replicated to ESXI02
ESXI02 (2 Physical CPUs with 6 Cores per CPU)
-> VMB : Backed Up to Local Storage
-> VM1_Replica :
-> VM2_Replica :
-> VM3_Replica :
-> VM4_Replica :

By my counting, this instance count would be : 1 (VMA) + 1 (VMB) + 1 (VM1) + 1 (VM2) + 1 (VM3) + 1 (VM4) = 6 instances.
Would my understanding be correct ? Or would it be : 1 (VMA) + 1 (VMB) + 2 (VM1) + 2 (VM2) + 2 (VM3) + 2 (VM4) = 10 instances.
