Reverse replica protection

Post by stevil »

I don't think this is possible, but while we are in a planned failover scenario, can we reverse replication from our DR site back to Prod? The reason I ask is that while we are failed over (for test purposes) the replica isn't being backed up or and incrementals sent back to our production site.

if testing is longer than 1 week, id consider doing a permanent failover, running on snapshots longer than 1 week will be tough on the performance side if this is a production VM (which id imagine it is). at that point, u can replicate the changes back using the source/production vm as a seed. also, u could create a full backup of the production vm before the failover and use that as a seed when replicating back to production. anyhow, this is a common question, and a lot of info on the topic around the forums.
