Wan accelerator question

Post by ta_yoshizumi »

Hello,

When using a WAN accelerator for backup copy jobs, is there a specification for processing only one VM at a time even if there are multiple jobs or VMs?
Or is there a way to parallelize VMs?

Thanks.

Hello,
The source WAN accelerator requires a lot of CPU and RAM resources, and does not process multiple tasks in parallel. As an alternative, you can create one remote job for all VMs you plan to process over one source WAN accelerator.
The target WAN accelerator, however, can be assigned to several remote jobs.
Thanks!

If you want to do more in parallel you can add additional WAN Acceleration pair and select those for the second job. This together should be able to saturate all mid size WAN links.

I would say not WAN Acceleration pair, but another source WAN accelerator.

Hello,

If one job contains multiple VMs, will it be processed in series for each VM?

If one job contains multiple VMs, please let me know what processing is done.

Hello,
The process is described in details here.
Accelerator works with file data blocks, not with particular VMs. The data blocks may contain data of several VMs.
Hope that helps.

Yes, as mentioned above, source accelerator processes tasks (i.e. VM disks) sequentially.
