VMWare Tools are not found - Warning status

Post by redhorse »

Hello,

we have a disk backup job which is enabled for VMWare Tools quiescence where appication-aware image processing is disabled. Now, we have two Linux appliances withoud VMware Tools installed. The backup works fine but we get a warning with the following error message:

"Cannot use VMware Tools quiescence because VMware Tools are not found."

The whole result of the backup job is warning because of this informational message, is it possible to change this behaviour? Unfortunately, it is not possible to define exception for certain VMs to disable VMWare Tools quiescence.

Thanks

With the following registry key the warning turns into a info:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication:DisableVMwareToolsNotFoundWarning (REG_DWORD),1

After upgrading to V10a I’ve got the issue once again although the registry key is still existing. Does this approach not work anymore?

Edit: I have to correct myself, the VMware tools are not running and it’s currently not possible to fix it. Is there a way to prevent Veeam to recognize this as a warning?

No, there's no such option. But since VMware Tools are not running anyway, perhaps simply uninstalling them will help?

It's a third-party appliance without any shell access, but now I've found an update package just for the vmware tools. After installing the update the VMware tools are running, so my problem is solved.

Thanks
