Backup QNAP NAS w/ Veeam

I've been asked to backup a newly purchased QNAP NAS which is acting as a file server. Seeing now that this can't really be done with Veeam Backup & Replication but I heard from an engineer a while back that native backup for NAS was coming. Anyone heard about a potential release date for this feature or have more helpful info that can help me out of this jam?

Yes, we're working on this feature, and I am actually launching the internal tech preview next week. Although we have not announced the release date for this feature yet, it is safe to say it's not going to be available this year - so you'll need some other solution for the interim. Thanks!

Hey all, was just browsing and saw this forum.
It appears that with Veeam Linux agent v3 it now has a feature called "Snapshot-Less File-Level Backup".
So if you deploy a linux machine, install the veeam agent for linux and mount the NFS/CIFS share/s from your QNAP (you should be able to backup files).
I have not tested this but this feature they introduced should make it possible.
This is not as nice a native app, but in case if anyone is in a bind, should try it out.
