VBR Proxy Transport mode

Dear community,

My environment:
- Nutanix hardware
- ESXi as a Hypervisor
- Veeam VBR 9.5U4 as a VM.
- NFS3 datastore
- Network is on a 10G infra.

I would like to check which Transport mode is of the best performance.
- Direct Access Storage
- NBD
- Virtual Appliance (Hot add)

By far, from what I have googled, I should be using "Direct Access Storage". However, the speeds were way slower than when the transport mode is set to "Virtual Appliance"

These are the speeds which I observed for each transport mode:
1. Virtual Appliance (Hot add): 280+MB/s
2. NBD: 76 MB/s
3. Direct Access Storage: 20 to 30+ MB/s

I cannot use the "Hotadd" transport mode because of the VM stun issue (Upon snapshot removal, VM is un-pingable for about 10 seconds or so).

For #2 and #3, is this normal? The number doesnt seems normal to me on a 10G infra.

2, maybe normal, 3 should be significantly faster. I suggest to ask support for performance investigations. Direct NFS should be much faster than what you see.

The issues with HotAdd are expected. HotAdd with NFS is not recommended (see best practice guide)

If #3 is writing to an NFS store, you may be running afoul of some kind of synchronous write issue?
