VeeamZip - exclude VM pass through disk?

Post by FTL »

Hi All,

Is it possible to exclude pass through disks inside VM's using VeeamZip so it just backs up the VM with OS Drive and not additional's?

Thanks

With My Knowledge No. We can't exclude Disk in VeeamZip.
You can add vm to new job. there you can skip particular Disk and run it.(as it is a initial backup, it take full backup)

Pass-through disks should be skipped from processing automatically, since you cannot back them up.

Pass-through virtual disks and guest disks connected via in-guest FC or iSCSI are skipped from processing.

If you have the Enterprise Plus version and a compatible storage bay, you can back up the bay snapshots with VEEAM.

Other than that, you can't. This is a limitation of Microsoft VSS. Veeam can't help it.

Sorry => included in the free version.

However, your storage bay must be supported by Veeam. If these are hard drives internal to your server, that's not possible (Microsoft limitations). Microsoft expected to correct this VSS limitation because it exists since the first version of Hyper-V.

I will make fixed VHDX for you. Performance will be inferior to Pass-trough Disk but it will still be much better than thin VHDX (by default to the creation of your VMs).
