Change Repository Path
Is it possible to change an existing repository's path on disk?
Alternatively is it possible to create a new repository, copy the repository contents over, change the repository targeted by a job and to then resume the previous job?
Thanks,
Richard.

Re: Change Repository Path
I ended up creating a new repo and copying over the contents (having stopped the Veeam services first). I then re-targeted the job at the new repo and it picked up where it left off (i.e. didn't re-copy all mailbox data). Finally I removed the old one at the wrong path on disk which I didn't want to keep.
I'm sure this will have lost recovery point information / "point in time" views of the backed up mailboxes but this was no big deal as it was a new repository / backup job anyway.
Richard.

Re: Change Repository Path
Hi Richard,
All the information from the repository is normally saved in the repository database, and if I understand it correctly that is what you copied over. So you should have not those point in time views. If you use the veeam explorer for exchange you should be able to see those. Can you check and let us know?
Thanks
Mike

Yep, I think you're right - looks like all of the recovery points are there.
Thanks!
Richard.

Re: Change Repository Path
Hi All,
Same question, but different context than Richard's one.
I previously define, in VBO v2, a single repository for a single global policy to store O365 mail backups, at a root path D:\Veeam365, like a rookie.
Since VBO v3 is available, two types of VBO repository can be defined : "Item-level" and "Snapshot-based".
And of course, now, I need to create a second one for a second global policy.
Unfortunately, retention is defined as "Keep Forever".
Is it possible to move the initial repository to a subfolder of the root folder like "d:\Veeam365\item-level\" ?
"Snapshot-based" will be created in something like "d:\Veeam365\snapshot-based\"
Thanks,
Sebastien

Re: Change Repository Path
Hi Sebastien,
You can create a new subfolder, add it as a new repository with the same retention settings and move there existing backup data (stop all backup jobs and the VBO services before doing this). Then edit your backup jobs pointing them to this new repository. On the first job run, you'll get a notification that a full backup is required and previous restore points can be lost; however, if everything was performed correctly VBO will see all the previous restore points as well.

Re: Change Repository Path
Polina, to clarify a couple of things:
1. When VBO goes to tdo the new "full" backup, will it actually have to re-download everything from O365 and re-store it, even if much of the existing data is there already from the old retention scheme, or will Veeam just download data that wasn't backed up before (I imagine "CBT" will not work and will be reset)
2. If VBO does need to re-pull everything from O365, is there any sort of dedupe that happens in the databases to avoid re-storing all the same info? This might be more of a general VBO repository question - is there dedupe and compression similar to VBR?
