Hi All,
I have found that on some Hyper-V servers I need to disable Remote UAC to allow me to add the Hyper-V server to the Veeam console. I get an error "Failed to create persistent connection to ADMIN$"
I use the following reg key to do this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/hel ... egistry-se
However in other cases I do not need to do this registry change to add a Hyper-V server and was wondering why that is.
Ideally I do not want to disable Remote UAC with this registry change and want to find the proper solution to this issue.

Re: Disabling Remote UAC to add Hyper-V servers
Hi Jonathan,
Do you use a local admin account to do this or a domain user added to the local administrator group? Additionally, what is the version of your Windows Server when this does not happen?
Thanks!

Re: Disabling Remote UAC to add Hyper-V servers
Hello Vitaliy,
A mix of 3
1. The local administrator account "Administrator"
2. A different local account added to the "Administrators" group of the Hyper-V
3. A Domain user account added to the "Administrators" group of the Hyper-V
The issue seems to occur with the accounts in 2. and 3. more often.

Ok, that's what I've thought. To resolve this you should be using a local admin account, as this one bypasses the UAC restrictions. See this similar topic for more info. Hope this helps!

Re: Disabling Remote UAC to add Hyper-V servers
For most environments, it makes sense to disable UAC on servers. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... ows-server
As long as you are not browsing the internet or doing anything on the server console except legitimate administrative functions, UAC cases more issues than it solves.
