Migration of data and clients from Networker/HP data protector and commvault tool to Veeam

Post by Kunalgoel »

Hello Team,

Currently there are 3 backup tools running in our environment (Networker, commvault and HP data protector). we are planning to deccom all these tools and and deploy Veeam as a central backup tool.

Before pursue with above, have some queries..

1. How to migrate existing data from Networker, HP data protector and Commvault software to Veeam backup software?
2. How to perform restore from existing backed up data done by Networker, HP data protector and commvault software through Veeam software ?

Regards,
Davinder

Hello and welcome to the forums Davinder,
1. How to migrate existing data from Networker, HP data protector and Commvault software to Veeam backup software?
We do not provide integration with the third-part vendor's backup format, so the only possible way to migrate the data would be to restore it from the original backup back to the native format and then use Veeam B&R to create a new backup file
2. How to perform restore from existing backed up data done by Networker, HP data protector and commvault software through Veeam software ?
Unfortunately it's not possible.

This is possible we have achieved it( migrating to a different vendor other than Veeam though..) We are about to start developing a solution to do the same for Veeam if there is sufficient demand. We've already done a lot of the hard work developing our own readers for TSM, DataProtctor, NetBackup, Commvault, and BackupExec, so if there is interest let me know and we can look to do the same for Veeam.

I have to stress that we don't currently support Veeam or Networker, but it would only take a few months if there is interest. Tranzman automates the whole process,. Making migration possible in 6 simple steps.
