Backup Copy to SOBR with GFS (Azure Blob): Bandwidth Usage

Post by arti73 »

Hi,

We're trying to establish how much bandwidth we will need when the backups are moved to the Capacity Tier (Azure Blob). We're using Backup Copy Jobs with GFS enabled, the question is if when the full backups are sealed (Weekly, Monthly, Yearly) all data related to this full backups will be uploaded to the Azure Blob Storage, example if the fulls are 5 TB, when the SOBR offload job is executed it will move 5 TB every single time? or will only be uploaded the first full and then Veeam B&R manipulates what is already in the Blob Storage to create the other full files

thanks in advance

[MERGED] Object storage offload

Post by arosas »

If I have 2 full yearly VBKs in my local repository one from 2016 that is 12TB and one from 2017 that is 13TB.
I setup and configure SOBR to offload those two.
The initial offload is the entire 12TB, how is the subsequent offload handled?

Is the entire 13TB file offloaded or only blocks that do not exist in object storage?
If it's only the blocks that do not exist how does Veeam handle the remaining blocks in the local repository?
