Unattended installation of updates

Post by mdxyz »

Gents,

We've been using this guide to update our clients to the latest patch, and have a few hopefully simple questions.

1. If the noreboot option is used, is there a flag/etc which is set by the installer we can read to check whether a reboot is required?
2. Is there a list of exit codes for the installer? From what I've seen a successful update results in an exit code of 3010. Is this likely to change for future patches?.

So I may be able to answer both questions... it appears the exit codes may just be generic MSI codes, which can be found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... rror-codes

Exit code 3010 indicates that a reboot is required to complete the install. I would then assume exit code 0 would be successful install without a required reboot.

Hello,
for question 1 I would go with one of the options mentioned here https://stackoverflow.com/questions/478 ... ing-reboot

please give me some time to research question 2

Best regards,
Hannes
