Hi guys,
I'm attempting my first linux guest file restore and am getting this error during FLR appliance deployment
Failed to mount restore point
Linus FLR appliance deploy failed
Failed to connect backup datastore to the ESX host
Failed to mount NFS volume
Fault "PlatformConfigFaultFault", detail "NFS Mount
Unable to connect to NFS server"
An error occurred during host configuration.
I cant see anything being blocked on the firewall logs.
Restoring from a windows backup is fine.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Guest file restore error - FLR Applicance
Hello,
the FLR appliance is published via vPower NFS.
For troubleshooting I suggest to try instant recovery with a test VM first. Then just search for the error message and you will find Veeam KB articles that tell you what is the exact issue. It sounds like a normal network / firewall / DNS issue. If you cannot fix it that way, then please contact support for help.
If instant VM recovery works, then the FLR appliance will also work
Best regards,
Hannes
PS: just as a hint for "emergency cases": you can restore directly on the agent side with the Veeam agent for Linux.

Re: Guest file restore error - FLR Applicance
I know from past experience that the Helper Appliance needs to be stood up on the same host as the Veeam Backup server. The appliance must also be connected to a network that has DHCP reservations available that also has access to the to the Veeam backup server. I struggled with this for quite some time as I get very few Linux FLR requests.

hmm no, not really... host can be different and IP address static... all options work if network is configured correctly.
