Feature Request : Filter VMWARE VMNICs from beeing Monitored

Post by mviel »

Case # 03714925

Dear Product Management Department,

I would like to file a Feature Request.

The Problem which I reported to Veeam Support is currently not solvable , as there is no Rule in Place which could solve my Problem.

The Problem is that we have a 10x Node Cluster ( R740 ) , on those Server the "Daughter Board" has 4 Ports 2 10GB and 2 GB . We are only using the 2 1GB Ports and the first 2 10GB are "unpluged" and "unconfigured" anywhere in VMWARE . The Report we got from VeeamOne Indicated that VMNIC0 and VMNIC1 an all those Hosts are "DOWN" and therefor a Problem.

Those 2 Nics are the "unpluged" not used 10GB Ports on the DELL R740 ( Daugtherboard ( build in Ports ) )

We have a Call still running with VMWARE as for the suggestion of the Support Engineer, but it would be way easier if the Monitoring Tool could "Exclude" particualr VMNICS which are not used at all.

Regards

Hello Markus,
Could you specify name of report or alarm notifying you about the "problem" with ports?
Thanks!

I also opened up a Ticket with VMWARE but Results are didnt come in yet. My Support Agent explaind that because of the "EVENT" triggert bei VMWARE -> Veeam One is generating the Info ( Will update when I got more Infos ) .

( VMNIC0 and VMNIC1 are 10GB Ports on a 4 Port Card , they are not used at all and not Configured in ESXi )

The Only Option I have at the moment to Ignore "ALL" Nic ERROR Down Messages but not selective .

Code: Select all

Weird. The unconfigured (not a member of any vSwitch) ports on our Dell PowerEdge R740 servers don't produce any alerts.

Do you see any events at all for the unconfigured ports?
