add repository server as a Microsoft Hyper-V server too

Post by mezei.peter »

Hi,
Is there any oportunity to add my repository server as a Microsoft Hyper-V server too? Or it will cause any problem for backuping my other hyper-v servers?
My infrastructure (6 managed servers):
1 backup server - windows server 2016 (i would like to install the hyper-v role, and add to the managed servers as a microsoft hyper-v server)
5 microsoft Hyper-V servers - windows server 2012 r2
Is it possible or cause any problems?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Peter,

What is the idea behind adding Hyper-V role to this server? I assume you'd like to spin up a few VMs here, right?

Thanks

Yes, i need a new VM (windows server 2016) on a WS 2016 host, because i think there is a licensing problem, if a create this VM on a WS 2012r2.

Well, we support such scenarios, but I'd recommend taking a look at this topic. The better approach would be to have B&R running on a VM. Also, you should have some DR plan for a case when you have lost this server.
