Incompatible Veeam Backup for Office 365 Server Version?

I have Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 installed on the same server where I have Veeam B&R.

When i try to use the Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange to perform recovery of items on my Office 365 tenant I get: Incompatible Veeam Backup for Office 365 server version (received: 9.6.5.422, expected: 9.6.4.1090)

Veeam O365 Backup Version = 3.0.0.422
Veeam B&R Version = 9.5.4.2866 (9.5 U4a)

When the Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange launches, the About screen shows 9.5.4.2866/1090

Do I also need to install VeeamExplorerForExchange_3.0.0.422.msi that has the higher version explorer, will installing that play nice with B&R (is this a supported setup)?

Hi Cerberus,

You can install te latest Explorers from VBO. They will be able to work with "older" versions. However, when you install VBR and VBO on the same server, I always tend to advice to install the explorers on a workstation or a admin jump box or similar.

I installed the updated Explorer included in VBO and I was able to do message level restore from Veeam office 365 Backup and also Veeam B&R to on-premise exchange, newer version works for both products.

That's a thing we needed to learn also. I would be even more happy with veeam, if this would be handled in a better way =)

Good morning,

when I try to restore a backup (testing purpose), I get an error :
"Incompatible Veeam Backup for Office 365 server version (received: 9.6.5.422, expected: 9.6.4.1078)."

I get this error after clicking on "Explore latest Exchange state of ..."

Here is a screenshot :



We are talking of VBMO community edition here, if this is relevant.

You can install te latest Explorers from VBO

How can we do that ?
Maybe I don't understand quite well, but I can't seem to find any way of installing "veeam explorers" from VBO.

Hi sogapex,

In the VBO zip package what you've downloaded, there should be three installers. The ones you need are: VeeamExplorerForExchange_3.0.0.422 and VeeamExplorerForSharePoint_3.0.0.422.

thank you very much. I installed VBO a long time ago (several month I mean) and didn't remembered it was a ZIP with 3 installer files.
I downloaded again this ZIP after reading your message and ran the "exchange" one : everything is back to normal

Don't forget to install the other one also so you can restore SharePoint data and OneDrive data.
