Re: create synthetic backup for a specific period
Hello,
honestly I don't understand your requirement. What is the idea of creating such a schedule?
What about using reverse incremental? There you have a synthetic backup every day (which should cover your requirement).
Please have a look on the animations https://www.veeam.com/kb1799
You can also play around with the restore point simulator to simulate with the "simulate" button.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: create synthetic backup for a specific period
so thanks
Actually I need your idea to create my backup schedule job and on the other hand I don't want get backup every days
I just want after one full backup create an incremental backup on Tuesdays for every week and get synthetic full backup on last Thursday of month after get 4 incremental backups.
As you said use reverse inc backup
but my backup repository is emc datadomain and in all of veeam documents not suggest use reverse inc backup on data domain repository

Re: create synthetic backup for a specific period
You cannot schedule incremental and full job runs at different days of the week (if I'm understanding your requirement right) unless you involve some scripting.

Re: create synthetic backup for a specific period
Hey Babak,
I think the main issue here is you can't do monthly Synthetic Fulls. I tested in our pre-prod environment and, at least for me, the "next run" date changes when I set a Synthetic Full on a day a job isn't scheduled to run, so I'm assuming this means that the Synthetic Full and Active Fulls are also considered in the schedule for jobs.
Honestly, I would just do an Active Full for its monthly offerings in your case, since the scheduling is there. Or, you can just script the Export Backup option on your preferred days; we do this for a few key servers where we have a legal requirement for out-of-band fulls, but we can't afford the impact of snapshot that long on the machines.

Correct, a full backup is triggered regardless of the job main schedule.

Re: create synthetic backup for a specific period
So, on a fifth job run you want backup server to remove previous restore points and create a new active full backup? If so, then, it's not possible, unless you use PowerShell scripts. Thanks!

Re: create synthetic backup for a specific period
If you can afford to create the full first and delete the entire previous part of the chain AFTER that, then it is possible if you set retention to keep just a single restore point. This is not a recommended setup though, as one unlucky day you might find yourself without any valid backup at all.
