Weekly/Monthly GFS with Active Full

Hi,

We have multiple backup copy jobs with GFS retention activated. Weekly backup is set to saturday and monthly backup is set to first saturday of the month.The option " Read the entire restore point from source... "is activated.

The issue that we have is that when a monthly backup is required Veeam is creating 2 full backups: 1 on friday for the weekly and one on the saturday for the Monthly even if both are configured to do a Active Full on saturday.

Is it normal that veeam doesn't do only one full backup and flag it as Weekly and Monthly?

Is your copy interval different than 12:00 AM? Then, it's expected that full backup is created one day prior to the selected day.

Yes, it is expected that in this case the weekly backup is created on Friday, as explained in the mentioned user guide section. Monthly backup is created on Saturday, according to the schedule.

Is there a way to configure it so it will do only one full and flag it for both weekly and monthly?

I believe if you schedule the monthly points to be created on Friday, then a single point will become both W and M.
