Doing a test restore. Source mailbox has 30000 items. Restored mailbox has 6800

Post by ChrisWilkinson »

To test a recovery I have picked a pretty big mailbox to test with and am restoring to an alternate mailbox to see if the size is correct

The restored mailbox is much smaller than the original. Source mailbox has 30000 items 3.76GB. Restored mailbox has 6800 1.35GB

When the original backup of the tenant was done the transferred data was about 50GB and I was expecting more like 200GB. I figured email might be pretty compressible so perhaps that might account for the size difference but decided to do a test mailbox restore to confirm this

Any idea why I might have such a difference when the backup reported success?

I'm currently exporting to PST to see how many items are in that as another comparison
