created a AWS S3 Backup Repository but cannot pick it from any Backup job

Post by GBGY »

Hi

Just created a Amazon S3 Backup Repository but cannot select it from any Backup setup. Any idea ?

Also tried the SCALE-OUT Repository ( the Backup repositories only shown 'Default Backup Repository' )

Greetings Gabriel!

Veeam uses object storage as a "Capacity Tier" of Scale-Out Backup Repository. So you will have a local backup + cloud archival for cost savings in 1 backup repository!

1. Go Backup Infrastructure and Add a Scale Out Backup Repository. In its settings point Veeam to a local repository of any type(like local NAS for example) and also point to your Capacity Tier account for archivals.
2. Point your backup job to that Scale-Out Backup repository.
3. Veeam will perform local backup first, and than, according to Scale-Out Backup Repository's Capacity Tier settings, will automatically offload backups to the cloud tier.

Please refer to documentation here for detailed info. Cheers!

Hi

When I add the Performance Tier, it only show the 'Default Backup Repository' and when I click ADD, the error message is
'Unable add extent Default Backup Repository because it has active backup or restore sessions'

Check active Backup\Restore sessions running under Home tab -> Last 24 hours - Running(x), there must be something that blocks you from re-configuring it. Additionally, you can always add another repository to use as a local Performance Tier, aside Default one! Click Backup Repositories - Add New Repository(not from Scale-Out wizard).

Are you planning to keep local backups(Performance Tier) on a Default Repository location? By default it's on the biggest drive detected locally on Veeam server.
