How to remove a 'Manually Added' physical server

Post by Trin »

When investigating our requirement to backup some physical servers, I went through the process of manually adding a server, which was successful, but it now transpires that this server will be taken out of service in a few weeks.I also added this server to a Protection Group (which is not yet in use - I was just investigating).

I now want to remove this server from our B&R 'Physical & Cloud Infrastructure' but I can't find out how I do this.

Is it possible and if so, how?

Many thanks

Found it.

Right click on the group; 'Manually Added', select 'Properties', 'Computers' and remove it from there.

Frustratingly simple and obvious!

I agree that it's simple, but how is it obvious?

B & R does the same "Wait a minute. Something else depends on this. Are you sure?!" for both.

[MERGED] ERROR: host have the same bios uuid - Unable to install backup agent

Post by RobertKO »

Hi,

I have Win2012 Server, hostname is "EOLO", ip is 10.0.16.1.
I have never been able to add this host using the IP address, but when using the hostname instead it worked.

Now I still have this host "10.0.16.1" under "Inventory/Physical cloud infrastructure/manually added".
I cannot remove it from there, nor can I rescan it, it gives me this error:

10/09/2019 21:00:28 :: Unable to install backup agent: cannot connect to 10.0.16.1 Error: Known agent EOLO have the same bios uuid 30464336-3934-4545-4237-4334ffffffff but different connection point 10.0.16.1.

This error shows up under ever rescan that B&R does automatically.
How can I get rid of the host 10.0.16.1, I don't want it to show up under "inventory", and I don't want to get spammed with this error every day.

Hi @wishr,

no, above suggestion is not working for me, as I have never been able to add that IP to the infrastructure really.

the host "10.0.16.1" is there under inventory/manually added, but with these settings:
hostname: 10.0.16.1
ip: empty
OS: unknown
agent version: not installed

as said, I have never been able to succesfully add this IP as a host to the inventory. But it shows now up under the inventory, from where I can't remove it, nor do a install agent.

as said 10.0.16.1 is the IP of the host "EOLO" that is succesfully added to the inventory.

So I have 2 hosts with the same bios uiid in my configuration:
10/09/2019 21:00:28 :: Unable to install backup agent: cannot connect to 10.0.16.1 Error: Known agent EOLO have the same bios uuid 30464336-3934-4545-4237-4334ffffffff but different connection point 10.0.16.1.

I am not able to delete host 10.0.16.1.

How can this be done?

Hi Robert,

So these "hosts" are the same machine in reality, right? Have you tried to delete the one from "manually added" using the above procedure?

Thanks

yes, it is the same machine.

First I tried to add the machine just using its IP-address, as I did with several others, which didn't work for this machine.
So I gave up on that and added the physical machine using its hostname "EOLO", which worked.

I don't have the option to "delete" this machine (10.0.16.1) from the inventory.
So no, above suggestion doesnt work for me.

Dear Robert,

Could you please try going to the properties of the "Manually added" group and remove the machine at the "Computers" step of the wizard? It should do the trick.

Thanks

Great. This worked.

So I had to go to the "properties" of the "manually added" group and from there I was able to remove that machine from the list.
I didn't see this possibility in the GUI.

thank you for your help.
Very appreciated

Hi John,

Welcome to Veeam Community Forums.

Surely, that can be done. I'm merging your question with existing thread - please take a look.

Thanks

I come to this post at least once a quarter cause I forget it is there. How hard would it be to have a remove server option on the list on the right?

Hi Jesse,

This change will not work for CSV- and AD-added machines, however, we'll discuss your suggestion within R&D team.

Thanks

[MERGED] Computer name change

Post by bmanewell »

I have a Windows workstation, which was backing up as an agent job.

Have changed the computer name and now the existing job fails as it cannot connect to the name.

Attempts to add the agent again under the new name, returns an error that the UUID is already included under the old name.
Is it possible to change the name details in the job, or do I need to remove any jobs relating to the old name and remove the old Manually Added agent, before adding the new one?

Hi Brett,

Could you please try the followig:
go to Inventory -> Physical Infrastructure -> Manually added and remove the "old" machine from the infrastructure?
After that you will be able to add this computer with a new name.

Thanks!

Hello,
I have removed lost Linux server with this procedure on v12.0.0.1420 P20230718:

From PS console on Veeam console:
Get-VBRServer ----> we see all data and we can find "Name" of server we want delete
Remove-VBRServer -Server "<server Name>"

After this command Server will deleted from Backup infrastructure.
