enterprise manager users preferences

Post by karim »

Hello,
is there another way to set up file guest options (host and network) for users who are using enterprise manager ?
i know that we have to setup these options through Veeam console but it is not user friendy and we can not install veeam console for all support team.
we cannot change esx host easily

maybe directly in the database ? or a script ?

thank you

Hello,

Just to make sure we are on the same page: can you post a screenshot of what file guest options you're referring to?

Thank you!

It works as following:
Any user that used the wizard in B&R before will get their own setup again in EM.
For any user that did not used the wizard before, they will use the configuration from the last wizard run, that someone pressed OK at the end.

some of our tehnicians are on a remote site with their own esx, they have to mount the appliance on it.
so it's necessary for them to get their own setup with this host. But as i said it's not necessary for them to have the B&R console installed
where this setup is stored ? is there a possibility to script this for a specific user?
thank you

The entry is an XML entry in our database... So in theory you can copy it (unsupported) if you find out where it is.
But I suggest to do the following.
Run the wizard in a configuration that works on the robo site.
Then let them us the Linux FLR once.
That way the configuration is saved in their user profiel.
Then alter from your account the setting (last wizard run).
And let the next robo run the user.

If a user already have accessed a wrong configuration, let them RDP into a VM that has the Full client installed. Let them run a Linux FLR once there.
Not ideal I know, but we have it into the nice things for one of the upcoming version bucket.
