Where did VeeamBackup datastore come from?
I have a fairly new setup of ESXi 5 with Veeam B&R 6.1U1. I've been running a couple backup jobs no problem. And I tested out SureBackup testing with a virtual lab. I'm not sure where it was created along the line, but I now have a couple of datastores showing up in ESX pointing toward my backup repository. I didn't even notice they were created until I started getting alerts from vCenter that it's below 25% free.
What created these datastores and what art they for?
Can I get rid of them?
If not, do I need to expand them?

You are probably talking about vPower NFS datastores. You can remove that at any time, they will be recreated automatically next time you are using any vPower-based functionality. Creating them programmatically takes some extra time, which is why we keep them for reusing in future (helps to make Instant VM Recovery more instant)

Great, thanks for the quick reply. It's just annoying to get the alerts from vCenter that it's running out of space and I don't want to have to customize alerts just for them. I'll unmount them.

[MERGED] Veeam created it's own Datastore?
Hello,
in my vSphere I saw that there is a Datastore called "VeeamBackup_Veeam" since some time.
If I remember correctly that was not the case when I installed first time Veeam B&R.
Since when and why is Veeam B&R using it's own Datastore?
Or do you think, that this is not used and I may delete it?

But I don't understand if I should/can remove it or should I let it as it is?

Ok, thank you. As the comment is already over 7 years old, I was not sure if that was still valid.

Re: Where did VeeamBackup datastore come from?
To delete that datastore - is it enough to "Unmount" that datastore? Or there are any additional steps necessary?
I can't see it after "unmounting" it, so I am unsure if it is really gone now.

It is enough to unmount, I would, however, note that leaving it mounted will save you some time on mounting it again during the next vPower-related task (e.g. Instant Recovery).
