Monitoring veeam backups off domain server

Post by brlomba1 »

Hello all, Case # 03825964

I have a veeam backup server that is off domain (workgroup) for various security reasons (and to follow veeam best practices). Does anyone know how to format the credentials to monitor the veeam backups? Typically it is domain\username but that is not applicable. I am using a local administrator account (which is used to login to veeam as well as being an administrator on the server). I also tried connecting via IP and not DNS name.

I have tried
LocalAdminUserName
Workgroup\LocalAdminUserName
.\LocalAdminUserName

I get "Veeam one monitor could not connect to x.x.x.x. Access is denied. Please verify user credentials and try again.

Veeam support has not been helpful, pointing me to best practices guides and not actually pointing out anything within those guides that would help

fyi, you can follow this guide to resolve https://rapidfiretools.happyfox.com/kb/ ... workgroup/
The username is just the username by its self, no workgroup or anything.

Veeam has a similar guide here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/d ... l?ver=95u4 but step 3 wasn't needed and it also doesn't have the firewall rules if you need them like the initial guide does.

Have you tried specifying the credentials in this format HOSTNAME\USERNAME where hostname is the name of your backup server?
