License question on VBO in Workgroup
Hi,
When running VBO in a workgroup I understand that it is quite difficult to set up proxy servers and getting the permissions to work.
As an alternative scenario would it be possible to install two (or more) instances of VBO with the same license and let one server back up Mail, another for OneDrive etc? Or does the installation not permit that?

Hi Silverdrake and welcome to the Community!
Remote backup proxies must be in the same (or trusted) domain with your VBO backup server (this is one of the requirements for VBO).
Deploying several all-in-one servers (backup server and the default proxy on the same machine) is possible, but it doesn't make much sense in terms of management overhead and resource consumption.
How many users are you going to back up?

This is not huge and could be easily processed with a single proxy. Why do you want to set up several proxy servers?

Thanks for the answer. The primary reason would be to speed up the backups but perhaps that won't be necessary then?

We recommend splitting up backup jobs by the type of data, i.e. making a separate job for mail/archives and another one (or two) for OneDrive/sites.
And, btw, have you already checked the VBO best practices guide? There're many insights on the deployments and configuration, which might be helpful for you.

Thanks. I have looked at that briefly but will take a better look at it now.
