Hey everyone,
short history:
we are having an issue with SQL database restore at the moment, and for now it looks like it is a windows or network problem - the server just looses the iSCIS connection. We already identified one network problem that we did not solve until now, but we found a workaround, but this did not solve our restore problem.
We did not yet open a case, since we do not see a problem with Veeam itself.
So what we have seen is when we start a SQL database restore, the target server opens an iSCSI connection to the Veeam Backup server (the repository is added as iSCSI volume to the B&R Server). Our Backup server has 3 nics: one in our server network, one in the VMWare mgmt network to access vCenter, and one in an unrouted network to access the backup repository. What I see is that the iSCSI connection from the DB restore target server is always trying to connect to the two IPs that he should/can not use, and only finaly is using the correct IP. Is there any way of forcing the Application Item Restore to use a specific IP address to mount the backup files?
Thanks,
Tobias

Re: B&R Server with multiple IPs - force iSCSI target IP
Dunno if it's going to be any help but one workaround might be to check the order of the NICs in the backup server and think about rearranging them so the device being used first in the current configuration is reconfigured to be used as your iSCSI port. Then assign the two remaining adapters to the other tasks.
You may find when you look at the adapters that they're being tried in order, nic-0, nic-1, nic-2
If you reassign the cards to different tasks you might be able to affect the order those tasks complete.

Re: B&R Server with multiple IPs - force iSCSI target IP
ejenner, what do you mean by "order of NICs" - somewhere in Veeam? The main backup server is a hardware server, so I cannot change the order of the NICs in any way I know of.
