S3 questions

Post by Nevermore696 »

Good evening,

I have 2 questions in regard to the S3 storage option:
1) Are there any options to move backups automatically from S3 to Glacier to keep it there and retrieve it in case if we need them?
Otherwise, we have to keep 5 years of backups in S3 Standard - Infrequent Access storage.
2) Is it possible to estimate how many Put/POST and GET/SELECT requests will be done through the backup process to calculate the overall price of the solution?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Alex and welcome to the Community!

1) No, that's not possible by means of VBO

2) These are the average numbers per 1GB of backup data, which you can use as a reference to estimate costs:
for Exchange data
Requests in total - 318
GET requests - 3
PUT requests - 290
DELETE requests - 25

for SharePoint/OneDrive data
Requests in total - 434
GET requests - 7
PUT requests - 353
DELETE requests - 72

Thanks!

Sorry to hijack this thread, but its relevant to the subject :)

Are we able to have VBO365 backup directly to AWS S3 Glacier storage or do we have to use the S3 standard?
