Avamar 8.0 Avamar Extended Retention to Veeam tape convertion

Post by lnulman »

Hi Teammates
We have 200 LTO4 2012-2015 Avamar 8.0 Avamar Extended Retention tapes ( NOT Networker /ADME) that needs to be converted to Veeam 9.5 LTO 6 of better tapes DUE TO REGULATORY COMPLIENCE .
Any recommendation will be appreciated. I did check with indexengines as well, it only supports Networker.
Thank You

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Converting backups from old backup software to new backup software (no matter which vendor) is often a question during migration. What I have seen at my customers is:
1) keeping the old software for restores (majority)
2) outsourcing restores to a partner (very few)
3) restoring everything and backing up again (almost nobody)

Best regards,
Hannes

AER is unstable and horrific. We need to keep data accessible for next 2 years by management/compliance request.
