Cloud gateway with only fulls (no rotation, forever retention)

Post by mbmn »

We are trying to scope out a Veeam based cloud backup solution where we are backing up 30TB every month of new data that must be kept perpetually in the cloud.

So to clarify, every month we generate 30TB of unique uncompressable undedupable data that we must store in the cloud forever.

Im trying to understand the licensing costs

All of this data is on shared storage that a single server in our datacenter can access. So the single server would take the data from this shared storage and push it to the cloud via Veeam.

It looks like we have to buy a minimum of 10 licenses even though there will just be one server which appears to $1200 USD

What I can't quite get clarity on is additional costs outside of the cloud storage costs. We have pricing on what it would cost per month for data in Azure where every month it is growing by 30TB.

But aren't there other license costs that will come from Veeame where we are charged a Per TB price just to use Veeam to put it in the cloud since it is always new full data?

Or is it really just the $1200 and then whatever Azure charges use on a monthly basis?

Yes, it is really just the $1200 and then whatever Azure charges you on a monthly basis.

Although it should be less than a thousand USD actually, as under 50 servers you should be looking at Veeam Essentials:
