Hi,
I see a lot of comments on Guest Interaction Proxy with relation to VM's but wondered if it can also be used for simplifying the backup of physical DMZ servers.
Our customer has a mix of physical and virtual servers in their DMZ and the backup server and SOBR are in the main LAN. So in order to limit the firewall rules required if we could use the GIP like for VM's that would simplify things.
The customer does not subscribe to our cloud connect service or we'd be using that for the DMZ, so other than lots of dynamic ports open to the inside LAN which the customer is understandably reluctant to enable, we may have to resort to putting a repository in the DMZ which creates complications sending backups with copy jobs to the second site.
If it's better to ask this on a support ticket then I'm happy to do that, just thought the forumites might have an opion.

Re: Guest interaction proxy and physical DMZ server
Hello,
no, there is no proxy involved for physical backup. All work is done by the agent.
To reduce ports today, Cloud Connect is the way to go (as you already mentioned).
Best regards,
Hannes
