Two vsphere instances at different locations

Post by Perfecta »

We have two data centers that each have their own vcenter instance, currently we have veeam setup to backup one data center/vcenter instance and it is going well, we added the second data center/vcenter instance but we don't have a P2P so it was too slow. I'm reading but having some trouble understanding which is the best way to setup backing up the second DC. I believe I can use a proxy and have it talk to the DB we already setup at the other DC but I don't want the link to be saturated or not be able to keep up.

So should I setup a second B&R instance or should I do the proxy? Also licensing would I need another license for a second B&R setup or the proxy or is the licensing solely based on the objects you're backing up.

Licensing is based on your backup load, right. I'd try with the proxy - backup server located in the first location will assign tasks to remote components so provided everything is configured correctly, all the backup traffic will be kept local to that location.
