Monitor Log file size (.LDF)

Post by perch »

I've noticed our veeam monitor monitor_log.ldf sql log file is getting very large after only a couple months currently at 350GB, anyone have any suggestions as to how to reduce the size, is this normal?

Hello, this is definitely not normal.
We have discussed this today on the dev meeting, and we believe that this happens due to the SQL server settings/mode you use.

Please, open the support case with our support, and they will assist you in addressing this.

Andrew,

Please open this database in SQL Management Studio and check "Recovery model" in Options. Make sure that this option is not set to "Full".

ssimakov,

That will effectively disable the ability to restore the DB to a given point in time.
But when an LDF grows it clearly shows that no backup of the logfiles have been made for a long period of time.

its easiest to setup a maintenance plan with the enterprise manager which backups the db + log files. (just point and click)
