SQL database restore to another server - Browse for Server Question

Post by derekmerritt »

Hello,

As a test, I am attempting to restore a database to one of our test sql servers. When I get to the option to choose another server and click Browse, under the Network Server tab, only 6 of our 20+ SQL servers are listed. I am able to do a restore of an existing database on the test server.

I assume it is a permissions setting that I missed or something, but my efforts to search the forums and Google did not find anything helpful.

Thanks,
Derek

Hi Derek, do you see all of them from the Management Studio itself? Veeam B&R uses the same API so the lists should be similar. If they are the same, then check if the absent servers allow TCP and Named Pipes and have SQL Server Browser service started. There may be also other requirements, better check with the SQL Server community. If the lists are not similar, please contact technical support for a closer look. Thanks!

Hey Foggy,

Thanks for the info. I will check SSMS and go from there.
