Question on the new Linux Proxy support for v10

Post by backupquestions »

Plenty of windows admins who aren't real great with Linux, and I admit I am one of them. I am working on that, but anyway... I love the idea of a prebuilt, tiny, linux proxy for V10. I've got lots of sites that are right now going to be connecting to the same vcenter cluster and pulling backups to a stand alone windows server box.

So anyway, similar to the virtual lab appliance, will Veeam possibly be able to package in linux proxy? Or at least make an official one we can download and import or something like this? Would be great.

There are no direct plans for this however Anthony Spiteri has been working on some automation projects around this which are available under MIT license on GitHub.

Not to derail the thread but has the guidance for memory+cores per task for proxy changed with Linux? I would say if you are a strong Windows admin then Server Core alone can make a great improvement.

Eugene, if something changes it will be reflected in the best practice guide but for now it's a bit early to tell.
