How to tell what version of MSSQL is using Veeam?

Post by 37rellimcm19 »

Have inherited a Windows 2008 R2 physical server that is running Veeam B&R v 9.00.902. I've worked with Veeam before, however it was very limited. This time, I will become the SME.

I've also noticed that there are two version of MS SQL 2008 and MS SQL 2012 installed on the VM (I think both are full). I've downloaded the Veeam Backup 9.0 enterprise manager user guide from Veeam and it appears that both are supported.

How do I know which version of MS SQL is being used by Veeam?

thanks

Hi Chris,
open regedit on Veeam server and check out HKLM\Software\Veeam\Backup and Replication\
There you will find "SQLInstanceName" and "SQLDatabaseName" keys holding values of respectful SQL instance and DB used by our product!
/Cheers!

Excellent, thanks for the help.

Should able to safely remove the MS SQL 2008 without affecting the backups and replication software, hopefully.
