Recovery Instant Recovery

Post by stone_star »

Hello
I've made instant recovery one of my VM (ESXi 6.5) and used it some days from Instant Recovery storage. Next, I've moved vmdk from instant recovery storage to vmware storage manually. And now I've loosed all changes from instant recovery date. Do you know any methods to recover Instant recovery VM in thes situation?

Hello,

All disk changes that take place while the VM is running are logged to auxiliary redo log files residing on the NFS server (backup server or backup repository).
These changes are discarded as soon as Instant Recovery is finalized.

I'd suggest to contact our support team, may be it would be possible to try to attach vmdk back to the restored VM somehow as long as the restored VM and redo logs still exist.
But I didn't test it and can not guarantee that this method will work. Please ask our support team to check if this method can be applicable in your situation.

Thanks!
