Restore Windows

Hi,

My laptop has installed Symantec Endpoint Encryption software and enabled this feature to manage Windows logon and disk encrption. I backed up by Veeam agent for Windows, then restore it. I found my logon fallback to Windows. SEE feature is became invalid. I must re-register.

Could you let me know what does Veeam agent work? How can I keep SEE feature after Veeam agent backup & restore?

Hello Chibi,

Can you please check the configuration of Symantec Endpoint Encryption software on the machine? Could it be that SEE functionality needs to be re-enabled after the machine is restored? Cheers!

UPDATE: based on the Using System Recovery with Symantec Endpoint Encryption KB article can say that the behavior is expected

After a bare-metal or dissimilar hardware recovery event, disk volumes will need to be re-encrypted.

Yes, I need to re-intall again. But can you tell me the reason? It's because your basre-matal backup will NOT back up boot files?

This KB is make sense because data is plaintext when we login Windows and use it. It's NOT related about SEE authentication that I asked.

How can I keep SEE logon instead of Windows native logon?

Data part must re-encrypted that I know cause all backed up data are plaintext.
