Hello,
I’ve created a SureBackup job for our Exchange server. Until the application initialization, everything (heartbeat, Ping) works fine, on the VM Console the machine is in logon-screen.
But in the moment of application initialization the Exchange in the VLab reboots. After that, vCenter needs some time to detect the VMware Tools, so I have to set the application initialization timeout to 10 Minutes, otherwise the job fails.
Is that reboot normal?
The logs don’t show anything about the reboot.
Have someone else the same symptom? Before opening a support ticket, I’d like to make sure that this reboot isn’t wanted.
Regards,
Thomas

Re: SB Job reboot Exchange during Application initialization
Thomas, is it a dedicated Exchange server? Such behavior is expected for domain controllers, not sure about Exchange though..

Re: SB Job reboot Exchange during Application initialization
Hi Alexander,
yes, it’s a dedicated Exchange Server, no Active Directory Services are running on that machine.
I’ve reinstalled the VLab to get sure there is nothing wrong with the configuration. But it’s quite the same, reboot on application initialization. Before application initialization, it looks like that the machine is ready an 1st boot is finished.
It seems such behavior isn't normal?
Edit: The DC in this Job didn't reboot on application initialization, there ist only the reboot described in the Blog-post.

Thomas, actually it seems to be normal behavior, for all that. Exchange does require reboot on its restore.
