Process of VeeamB&R to be paused
Hello
We wave a big VEEAM-Environment.
About 60 Repositorys mounted on Windows-Servers
About 20 Proxys
When we have do reboot a Repository-Windows-Server, we have to wait until the
Veeam JOBs are successfully completed, and this can cause a lot of waiting time.
We would like to have this possiblity on the JOBs.
Pause and Resume of every JOBs
JOBs:
- Backup
- SureBackup
- Replication
- Backup Copy
- VM and File Copy
- Quick Migration
- Tape
- Agents
Kind regards
Michele

He will not tell you.
You can‘t ask every few weeks about a feature request.
Veeam v10 was released last month. Now we have to wait normally 6-12 Months for new releases/features.
And it’s always a strategic decision not to tell about new feature until they are clearly on plan to release.
This is how IT works

[MERGED]Feature request - pause backup
Hi guys,
Just a quick one.
I have some backups which can take a long time to complete. Tape backups.
As patching of servers to maintain security seems to be getting more and more frequent I am finding automatic reboot requirements are preventing me from completing backups. i.e. the server reboots mid-way though backups.
If we had a 'pause' button we could pause long running tape backups for the update and reboot and then resume once completed? As things stand I can only stop a backup and then start it again from the beginning.

Hello EJ,
Can I rephrase the request: to resume the tape job after is being interrupted (i.e. continue to write from the place where we were forced to stop)? Cheers!

you could say that... however, I can see scenarios where it could also apply to a disk backup.

Re: Process of VeeamB&R to be paused
Now that we are on v12, has Veeam introduced a way to pause/disable backup copy jobs so that I can get my server rebooted? I have 18 backup copy jobs configured with "Immediate" copy mode and they are constantly running. Currently, I can only disable these jobs if I am lucky enough to catch them before the next cycle starts but only after they are finished running. If I try while the job is running I get a warning that reads, "Backup copy files for 'name-of-backup-copy-job' will be left in the inconsistent state. Stop the job anyway?"
Obviously, I would like to avoid causing harm to my backup data. For all of these reasons, it is making it nearly impossible for me to get my backup server rebooted for monthly patching or any other maintenance that requires a reboot. It appears this has been an ongoing issue and to ask if there is a better way to address this challenge outside of playing hit or miss for days while all my backup copy jobs fall behind so that I can eventually reboot my server.
I read in another post discussing the warning message that reads, "Backup files for this job will be left in the inconsistent state. One or more VMs will have incomplete, unusable restore points. Stop the job anyway?" That I should be fine with stopping the job as previous restore points will not be compromised and the next time the job runs Veeam should clean up inconsistent restore points and start creating new ones. I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes. this post/conversation can be found here --> microsoft-hyper-v-f25/had-to-stop-job-n ... 31661.html
