What Veeam Licesnse for backing up 3par8200 over SAN

Post by owahid@nmi.gov.eg »

Hi,
I wonder what is the Veaam license type needed to do backup of Hyper-V hosts over SAN using off-host proxy mode?
Is enterprise enough or I need enterprise Plus?
DO I need 3par 8200 snapshot license to use or just need to install Hardware VSS provide on all hosts and add the storage to the storage infrastructure ,then LUNs will be discovered automatically and no need to add host by their IPs or Names?
What about the created snapshot to take the backup will it be removed automatically or I have to remove it manually??

By the way I have 3par 8200 with snapshot license.

Thanks

Hello,
neither nor... it also works with standard edition.

I do not recommend off-host proxies because of the negative experience I had in the field. Almost no customer is able to manage the complexity of hardware VSS providers, storage firmware and Windows / Hyper-V patchlevel. I cannot tell you what license you need on the 3par side. But snapshot sounds good to me.

That said, I recommend using on-host proxy. Otherwise, I recommend reading https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100

Best regards,
Hannes
